At first glance the only old building standing in the village is the church, however coordinated by vernacular buildings expert Annika Nickson our team found out far more about the building that we live in! The biggest surprise was the White Cottage which may hide a longhouse, half for animals and half for people, of a type common in the later medieval period – in this case perhaps from the 16th or 17th century. We also did case studies on Hessey Farm, probably built at the time of the enclosures in the later 18th century and the Old School.
