Exploring a Yorkshire Wolds Village
Nunburnholme- Community Heritage Project
Nunburnholme, a village of around fifty houses, nestles in a valley on the Yorkshire Wolds steeped in history. Our church contains a stunning Norman archway, and Viking Age Cross. Four years ago, villagers expressed an interest in learning more about our heritage, so we applied to the Heritage Lottery Fund, receiving a grant of £28,000. We were keen to engage as many members of our small community as we could, and for the size of the village, succeeded in doing so. These pages give an account of the exciting results of this project exploring the Geology, Archaeology and buildings of the village, with slide shows, videos, photographs, reports, and recordings of radio programmes.
Read, relax and digest the history of the village of Nunburnholme, find out more about the Parish Church St James, a Grade 1 Listed Building dating back to Norman times.....
